| Worksite Visit | |
Students can learn a lot about possible future careers and about the work environment by visiting workplaces. They do not perform any sort of tasks and are not paid. The main learning activity here is observation. Work - based learning includes field trips and job shadowing.
Objective of field trips is to further explore opportunities for careers. There are various activities that are offered in field trips, which include presentations, tours, or group-oriented workshops or discussions.
Field trips are usually sponsored by schools, clubs, other youth and community organizations or even a corporate organization for a one time full day or half a day group visits. Employers are committed in providing a tour host and also making sure that employees are available at their worksites to answer students' questions and share a look at what they do.
These work-based programs give students the opportunity to experience the realities of the workplace firsthand. This process also offers young people the opportunity to discover the ties between education and their own futures, which in turn can help them plan their careers and broaden their horizons.
